The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile first hit the roads back in 1936 handing out "Wiener Whistles" to lucky kids (and adults). That tradition ended today. A press release from Kraft-Heinz, owner of the Oscar Mayer brand, read, "The newly coined 'Frankmobile' pays homage to the brand’s 100% Beef Franks as it debuts a tasty new recipe with a more balanced flavor profile and iconic beefy taste that is more flavorful than ever – all while sparking miles of smiles and uniting fans around a love of meat."
The fleet of six newly coined "Frankmobiles" will take the road.
But now they'll be distributing "Frank Whistles" with drivers now dubbed as "Frankfurters." They're also launching the “Franks for Franks” offer. If your name is Frank, or an iteration of the name Frank, they'll give you a coupon to score a free pack of Oscar Mayer 100% Beef Franks.
The press release announces the Wienermobile name change.
"The debut of the new Frankmobile comes as Oscar Mayer continues to bring its signature brand platform, 'Keep It Oscar,' to delicious new heights. From Frank-themed whistles to comical 'please do not lick' decals, Oscar Mayer designed every detail of the Frankmobile to encourage people from taking things too seriously, freeing people up to enjoy themselves with seriously delicious meats, like Oscar Mayer’s 100% Beef Franks."
To see when the new Frankmobile will be in your area, check the "Where's My Dogs" tracker on their website. If you want to apply to be a driver, here's the link to that. Finally, if you're one of the lucky recipients of the original Wiener Whistle from the Wienermobile, hang on to it. It may one day be a collectible.
