The actress recently discussed her relationship with the Jonas Brother, finding his dating history to be irrelevant. Chopra, 40, revealed on Wednesday (May 10) that she wasn't even sure she was ready to date when she met him. She added that it came about at a time when she wasn't sure she even wanted to date.
"I didn't even date Nick at that time because I was just, like, 'I need to know why I keep repeating my mistakes,'" the Citadel star recalled. "And the repeating of the mistake was always feeling like I need to be the caretaker," she explained.
Dating History
"I just started feeling invisible in my relationships," she said, adding, "[But] my husband makes me feel so seen. And so heard." Jonas made the first move by sliding into her DMs with a simple but direct message. He told her, "I've been told we should meet." Chopra found that cockiness to be "so sexy." Upon her Googling of the musician, she found his music video for "Close," which made her feel like he "deserved" a chance at a date. "Every time he sings that song on stage for me, I get weak in the knees," she said.
Despite their age gap, Priyanka never cared about his high-profile romances. "I don't give a f--- who he's dated," she said with a laugh. "We are talking about the future. I always say this: I don't read my book backward. I believe you go forward in the chapters." She wound up telling him in their DMs that her team can see their messages, so she asked him to text her. Soon after, the pair were openly dating, later tying the knot in December 2018. The couple now shares a daughter, Malti, whom they welcomed via surrogate in January 2022.
Nick the Champion
What made her relationship uniquely different from her past relationships is how supportive Nick has been of her. "I think he thrives on seeing me shine," she shared. "He's the most excited about the shows that I'm doing." She added, "That's what you want. You want your man to be your champion."
