Jennifer Garner’s Kids Prefer To Watch Ben Affleck’s Movies
Jennifer Garner has been in the industry for 28 years now. She shares three children with ex-husband Ben Affleck, who has been acting for nearly 20 more years than her. When it comes to their movie star parents, kids Violet Anne, 17, Seraphina Rose, 13, and Samuel, 10, have their preferences for what they want to watch.
“They don’t mind watching their dad,” Jennifer admitted to Allure in an interview yesterday (May 9), “but they kind of want me to be their mom. They don’t want to see me upset, and women cry more in what we do. And they don’t really want to see me in a romantic thing.”
“I’m not good at being fake,” says #JenniferGarner, @allure’s newest cover star. “I’m an open book of a person.” Maybe that’s why the actor and mother of three has a devoted fan base and a sterling reputation in Hollywood. But is there a catch? To read her un-fake, unfiltered… pic.twitter.com/Qqbn6sirDs— Allure (@Allure_magazine) May 9, 2023
Though the 13 Going On 30 alum always wanted to be a mother, she admitted her parenting style has evolved since welcoming her first-born, Violet. “I was such a first-time mom. [My eldest daughter] didn’t have a shot,” she explained. “She couldn’t have a free thought — I was all over her. I was a nightmare for everyone around me.” Since then, Jennifer, 51, has learned to “have a lot of faith” in her kids. Although she doesn’t “love every behavior all the time,” she trusts in the process. “Your kids will really figure out who they are and what they are when they’re older,” she added, “and most likely they will hew toward lovely.”
Nice Girl Jen
The actress also got candid about her perceived “nice” girl persona in the interview. She noted how public perception can sometimes cause conflict with the desire to keep her personal life private. “The problem with, ‘Oh, she’s so nice,’ is that when I have any kind of boundary, people think of it as much more than it actually is,” she told the publication.
Like any person having a bad day, the Alias star said she draws these boundaries when she’s out in public. “The problem is being recognized on a day where I’m not so nice or when I have blackness in my soul,” she continued. “I’ve definitely had days where I just can’t do it. I scowl at people before they can walk up to me. I’m not perfect, and I don’t think I’m rude, but I’m not good at being fake. I’m an open book of a person.”
