This is not a joke! Scientists have created a Wolly Mamouth meatball! The NY Post says scientists are too afraid to eat it. Hahaha. Savory, succulent, pre-historic…it’s more than possible you’ll be able to try woolly mammoth meatballs in your lifetime. An Australian company called Vow takes cell biopsies of exotic animals to create sustainable, outside-the-box meat options. Vow collaborator professor Ernst Wolvetang from the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology at the University of Queensland says combining this formula into sheep stem cells was how they were able to replicate and grow the 20 billion cells needed for replicating the ancient meat.

The good news is that Wolvetang called this process “ridiculously easy and fast.” But like in every sci-fi movie, there’s just one little problem…Wolvetang warns, “We haven’t seen this protein for thousands of years. So, we have no idea how our immune system would react when we eat it.” The mammoth meatball is due to be unveiled tomorrow at Amsterdam’s NEMO Science Museum. Bring a fork!
