Influencers are sharing their kids’ baskets overflowing with expensive gifts, like jewelry, gift cards and gaming systems. If you want to do something a tad less luxurious for your little ones, big box stores have plenty of egg fillers, Easter-themed toys and plastic trinkets to fill those baskets up, but do you really want all that junk in your house?
KC Davis definitely doesn’t. According to Scary Mommy, she’s a TikToker, therapist and author of “How To Keep House While Drowning,” and she recently shared her clever idea for parents who want to give their kids a fun Easter basket, without the pile of extra stuff that often comes with it and sticks around your house afterwards. “I have made it my mission this year to have low-clutter Easter baskets,” Davis begins. “Because I am someone who loves to go overboard with Easter baskets and I'm also someone who hates the huge amount of like little plastic and extra toys that often get included in big Easter baskets.”
So instead of plastic eggs, bunny ears and little toys that end up in a pile of clutter, Davis gives things her kids need replaced, like a box of crayons, water bottles and bathing suits. She also includes candy and a cake mix with icing and decorations, as baking a cake is a holiday tradition for her kids. Their low-clutter baskets also come with fun things the kids will use up quickly, like sidewalk chalk, bubbles and stickers. She says, “This will be so fun for four days, and then it’ll be out of my house forever.”
