KOS, GREECE - JUNE 03: A man relaxes under parasols on the beach front on June 03, 2015 in Kos, Greece. The Island has recently seen a drop in tourist numbers which has been attributed to negative reports on the migrant crisis that is continuing to grip the area. Many migrants are continuing to arrive on the Greek Island of Kos from Turkey. Around 30,000 migrants have entered Greece so far in 2015, with the country calling for more help from its European Union counterparts. (Photo by Dan Kitwood/Getty Images)

Traveling can change your life, and it did for one woman from England, but not in the way she was expecting. According to TylaStephanie Hanson took a trip to Greece in May 2022 to celebrate her 40th birthday with her besties. But during their 10-day vacay, the mom of four came to a surprising realization.

“I remember thinking while I was away about how I really missed the kids, but I didn’t miss my husband,” Stephanie admits. “I was in the worst shape of my life, and it dawned on me, at home, I was miserable – so I did something about it.”

While partying with her pals, she was having the best time, but she says the thought of going home to her hubs “was awful.” Stephanie’s moment of clarity led her to come home and ask for a divorce and she says she knew she made the right decision when she saw her husband’s reaction. After that, she decided she wanted a healthier lifestyle so she started eating better, exercising and slowly but surely, she shed the extra weight she’d been carrying for a decade.

I love my husband and I in no way want a divorce. However I can see how living your best life with your friends in Greece could be void of longing for your husband, but good for her for following her heart and taking steps to be to happy.
