According to CBS News, with the one-year deadline of claiming a $100-thousand Massachusetts lotto prize approaching fast, Boston news station WBZ aired a story about the unclaimed lottery jackpot. Fortunately, Jean Butler was watching and told her husband about the winning ticket bought at the store where they usually buy their lotto tickets. The winning numbers seemed familiar to Jean’s husband John, so the search began for the ticket before the clock ran out.
They both left home early from work one day so they could search together. "The first thing I said to my wife Jean was 'If we can't find it, we're still together right?'" John recalls. But he didn’t have to worry about that because after a bit of searching, they located the winning ticket.
Earlier this week, the Butlers claimed their prize money just 11 days before the ticket would have expired. They took home $71-thousand after taxes and they plan to use their winnings on a Nashville vacation and some home renovations.
