Selena Gomez Claps Back At Hailey Bieber Gagging At Taylor Swift

Selena Gomez is standing up for her good friend Taylor Swift after a video resurfaced of Hailey Bieber pretending to gag at the mention of the “Cardigan” singer’s name.

It happened on Thursday (February 23) when Gomez, 30, left a comment under a TikTok calling Hailey a “mean girl” and showing a clip from what looks to be Drop the Mic, the model’s former celebrity rap battle show with Method Man. In the video, Method Man describes a rap battle as having “some of the meanest lyrics about a celebrity since Taylor Swift’s last album.” In response, Hailey, 26, points a finger at her mouth and pretends to gag with her eyes rolled back, before shrugging as the audience laughs.

“So sorry, my best friend is and continues to be one of the best in the game,” Gomez commented on the video. One person commented on the TikTok: “THIS is the real Hailey!” While another person said of Hailey, “she can’t stand talented successful women.” Another person commented, “what is she even known for like fr [crying face emoji] isn’t she just justin’s wife and kylie’s friend like??” Before commenting in defense of Swift, Gomez wrote “I love you” in response to a video calling Kylie and Hailey “nepo babies” who were acting like “mean girls.”

The Only Murders in the Building star’s response comes hours after Hailey and Kylie Jenner were accused on social media of making fun of Selena’s eyebrows on Instagram. The Kylie Cosmetics founder addressed the accusations by commenting on a TikTok, “this is reaching. no shade towards selena ever and i didn’t see her eyebrow posts! u guys are making something out of nothing. this is silly.” Fans didn’t believe her, as many people commented things like, “Kylie and Hailey are giving high school vibes,” “Mean girls,” and Haters!!! Selena Gomez is way above them !!” Gomez replied to Kylie’s comment: “Agreed @kyliejenner It’s all unnecessary. I’m a fan of Kylie!”

Despite all the high school drama between the three women, Selena seems unfazed enough, posting a hilarious TikTok yesterday about her love life.

Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber Squash Beef, Pose Together For Photos

Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber have proved to fans that there is no bad blood between the two — posting photos cozying up together. A few weeks following Hailey’s interview opening up about the backlash she faced when she began dating Justin Bieber, Gomez’s ex. The two women attended the 2022 Academy Museum Gala and photographer Tyrell Hampton shared one of the snaps on Instagram alongside the caption, “plot twist.”

As both Selena and Hailey have noted, their fanbases have attempted to pit the two against each other. Last month, the Only Murders in the Building star spoke out against the “vile and disgusting” hate Hailey received due to the timing of her relationship with Justin. Gomez posted a TikTok video calling out her fans who were actively attacking Hailey online.

“I think some of the things that I don’t even need to be aware of are just vile and disgusting, and it’s not fair, and no one, ever, should be spoken to in the manner that I’ve seen,” Selena said in the video. “All I have to say is, it’s incredibly ironic that I would release something that is all about kind words, ’cause that’s exactly what I want. That’s it.”

For her part, Hailey shared that even though it may have appeared from the outside that there was some overlap between her relationship with Justin and Gomez’s, the pop star was single when their romance began. “A lot of the hate and the perpetuation comes from like, ‘Oh, you stole [Justin].’ And I guess maybe that just comes from the fact that they wished he had ended up with somebody else. And that’s fine. You can wish that all you want but that’s just not the case.”

She added, “But I will say too, the only people that really know the truth of the situation and what the timeline really was and how it happened and how it went down are like me and him. Perception is a really tricky thing because when you’re watching something from the outside, you can see it one way when it may not really be the reality of what happened behind closed doors.”
