Looking for a fun way to shake up your old date night routine? TikTok is here to help. According to Apartment Therapy, a new trend on the platform has people turning a trip to Trader Joe’s into an easy, cheap and most importantly, fun date night.

And since we have 2 locations right here in Charlotte (at the MET and in Ballantyne), we can get in on the action too!

Fans of TJ’s already know that the store is filled with interesting international foods and they almost always have new items you’ve never tried, so you never know what you might find. And if you’re a Trader Joe’s regular, you’ve probably been grocery shopping there with your partner before, but TikTok suggests making it a memorable date night by playing rock-paper-scissors while you shop for dinner.

You can throw your hands down to play for each course of the meal - appetizer, entree, dessert and beverages - and the winner gets to choose the dish. It’s just that simple. And since you’re playing multiple rounds, even if you lose on making one choice, chances are, you’ll win on another. You’ll not only get dinner items at bargain prices, you’ll probably even have some leftovers, and you can pick up some flowers while you’re there, too.
