This North Carolina City Tops The List For Biggest Rent Increase

If you’ve been looking for an apartment lately you’ve probably noticed rent has gone up significantly. And not just in line with the inflation numbers. Rent has gone way up in some areas.
According to CBS17, a report from Rent.com shows Greensboro is the top city in the U.S. with the biggest rent increase for one-bedroom apartments over the past year. The city has seen a more than 74% increase in rent prices.
Greensboro realtor Kelly Marks said newer apartment complexes in the city are charging more to deal with higher construction costs. Also, existing complexes are charging more. It’s creating a large affordability gap. This is making it hard for some people to find a place to stay.
“This is happening all throughout North Carolina believe it or not, even a lot of the rural areas,” Marks said. “The reason being is North Carolina is one of the most moved-to destinations in the country.”
What Homes $1 Million Will Get You In The Charlotte Real Estate Market
The home search in Charlotte is crazy. If you are looking to sell you are going to receive top dollar, but if you're looking to buy you're going to have a hefty price tag. In fact, I'm most likely going to re-sign my apartment lease in hopes that things calm down! But it's interesting to see just how far your dollar will go when it comes to real estate. So, I did a quick search on Realtor.com to see what homes $1 Million would get you in the Charlotte Market. Do I have $1 million to spend? Absolutely not, but it's fun to look and dream.
There are many homes priced well above that $1 million price tag, but for this list, I set that as my limit. Prices range from $975,000 to $1 million. But how much does that get you? It can get you as much as 5 acres or a waterfront lot. Most homes have around 4 bedrooms and 3.5-4.5 baths. You've got homes in the Ballantyne area as well as Myers Park or South Park. So a decent-sized house in a nice neighborhood.
