The NY Post has the best notifications! Over the weekend, I saw this story and thought ... "it has to be in Florida."

According to the NYPOST, a man in Florida had a romantic sunset proposal all planned out, but it didn’t quite go as expected. Scott Clyne and his girlfriend Suzie Tuckerwere standing on a boat taking in the view just as he was about to pop the question, but he fumbled while getting the ring out of his pocket. And before he even got the words out, the box fell into the ocean.

The whole thing was captured on video by a friend who was on the boat with the couple and the clip has become a viral TikTok, with 8.4-million views so far. It shows the 35-year-old immediately dive into the water after dropping the ring and successfully retrieve the box before it was lost forever. Clyne says Suzie went into “full panic mode” watching the mishap, but when he got back on the boat with the ring, he finally got to pop the question and she said “yes!”

The groom-to-be blames the ring falling on his shorts pocket. “I had the ring in my back pocket and when I went to reach for it, the corner of the ring box got caught on the top of my pocket and slipped out of my hands,” Clyne explains. “I didn’t hesitate to jump in because I envisioned it sinking quickly and I wasn’t taking a chance.” He says he’s always wanted to propose to Suzie on a boat because boating is a shared passion of theirs and even though it seemed like it might not happen for a split second, his quick reflexes saved the proposal.
