There is no doubt that emotions and sex are intertwined, and whether it be the rush of dopamine that convinces us that we are in love or the embarrassment that follows. Sex has a definite psychological impact that is often overlooked.

New research from sexual wellness brand www.lovehoney.com revealed that while happiness is overall the most commonly felt emotion after sex (53%), it’s not the case for all of us, as this slips to just 39% for those identifying as non-binary. Lovehoney’s survey also found that the feeling of embarrassment is felt by over one in 10 women (11%) after sex.

*The below table shows the most commonly experienced emotions after sex for different genders

Certified sex educator, Javay Frye-Nekrasova (MEd) explained the findings in this way:

“Mental health plays a major part in our sex lives. The brain is the biggest sex organ (well, second to the skin, but you know what I mean), so if your mind is racing from depression, anxiety, or just being neurodivergent, it can show up in sexual activity.

“A great example is people who have ADHD have been known to struggle in terms of their sex life because their attention goes so many places during sex or even before that they can't get into the mood. Mental health also impacts our sex lives because a lot of medications for mental health diagnoses impact sex drive.”

Raleigh Is Home To North Carolina’s Best Date Night Restaurant

Do you have a go-to restaurant for date night? Or perhaps you like to try a new place each time? It can be hard to know where to go. The perpetual "I don't know what do you want to do" followed by "no not that". One of my favorite things is to write down the places we want to try, put them in a jar, and draw one out when trying to make plans. Keeps it interesting and lets you try all the places you've been wanting to. But what is the best date night restaurant in North Carolina?

Well, you're going to have to take a road trip to experience it. According to a list by LoveFoodBlog, the City of Oaks is home to the best date night restaurant in North Carolina. It is in fact one I've tried, though not on a date. I'd highly recommend brunch in addition to dinner. However, they don't take reservations for either meal. Beasley's Chicken and Honey is located in the heart of downtown Raleigh. The menu features the restaurant's signature fried chicken dripping with honey. They also have some fantastic sandwiches, salads, and southern favorites like pot pie, meatloaf, and fried catfish.
