Tired of your kid looking more constipated than happy in photos? A dad in Pennsylvania has come up with a hilarious hack to fix that. According to the Today Show, Adam Perry, a children’s book author, says he and his wife discovered early on that the only way to get a decent shot of their son is to make him laugh. Asking him to smile when they snap a picture doesn’t work, so they came up with a solution that appeals to the five-year-old’s sense of humor.

Perry recently shared two side-by-side photos of his boy on Twitter, and in one image, the kiddo has a pained-looking smile, but in the other? He looks incredibly happy and his smile is relaxed and genuine. The dad captions the tweet, “My son when I tell him to smile vs when I yell out ‘poop!’”

The tweet has gone viral, racking up nearly 300-thousand likes and more than a thousand comments, many from parents cheering the smile solution:

“Congrats! You’ve revealed the secret and unlocked the next level of parenting,” one writes.

“This is why I volunteered at my kid’s school for picture day when they were little,” shares another. “If I’m paying $50 for those things, I want a good picture.”

“Our code word was ‘fart.’ Same reaction,” comments a third.
