Kanye West attends the Fast Company Innovation Festival - Day 3 Arrivals on November 07, 2019 in New York City.

Taylor Swift’s recent announcement of her upcoming album Midnights on the night of this year’s MTV VMAs has Swifties convinced that she’s throwing shade at Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

The 32-year-old singer-songwriter revealed during her acceptance speech when she won Video of the Year for “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” that her tenth studio album is set to be released on October 21 — which happens to be Kim’s birthday. Though new music is typically released on Fridays and October 21 falls on a Friday this year, fans think it is too much of a coincidence.

On social media, Swift described the project as “the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life.”

Fans on Twitter pointed out the relevance of 13, noting that it’s Taylor’s favorite number and the most recent VMAs marks 13 years after the incident with Kanye interrupting her acceptance speech for Best Female Video for “You Belong With Me” in 2009.

“Taylor swift is dropping new album October 21st,” wrote one fan. “She announced the album 13 years after that VMAs accident with kan*e. do you know who was born on October 21st? Kim Kardashian. I love blondie. she’s crazy like that.”

Also noted, Swift’s August 29 announcement happens to be on the first anniversary of Kanye West’s DONDA album. “Taylor announcing TS10 on Donda’s 1 year anniversary,” said one TikToker.

Fans React To Taylor Swift's 'Midnights' Announcement

Last night, Taylor Swift announced her upcoming full-length album, Midnights, last night following her win for Video of the Year at the 2022 MTV VMAs. “My brand new album comes out October 21,” she announced, as she accepted the award. “And I will tell you more at midnight.”

That happened at shortly after 11 pm ET, and at midnight ET, Swift took to social media to reveal a bit more about her next full-length album, along with a message: “We lie awake in love and in fear, in turmoil and in tears. We stare at walls and drink until they speak back. We twist in our self-made cages and pray that we aren’t – right this minute – about to make some fateful life-altering mistake.

This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams. The floors we pace and the demons we face. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching – hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve… we’ll meet ourselves.

Midnights, the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life, will be out October 21. Meet me at midnight.” The tracklisting, mysteriously, was a list of track numbers: “Track One,” “Track Two,” “Track Three,” “Track Four,” “Track Five,” “Track Six,” “Track Seven,” “Track Eight,” “Track Nine,” “Track Ten,” “Track Eleven,” “Track Twelve” and “Track Thirteen.” Those could be the actual song titles, or she could be waiting to reveal the song titles at a later time.

Swifties took to Twitter to express their shock and joy for new music.
