Whatever you do! Don't hire this nanny in the Charlotte area. A Charlotte woman is accused of posing as a nanny to steal from people's homes the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.
Sarah Catherine Seltzer, 33, was arrested and is facing numerous charges. CMPD confirmed Seltzer actually worked as a babysitter or nanny at some point for at least two families. Seltzer is facing several charges, including two counts of breaking and entering, felony larceny and obtaining property by false pretenses.
One parent told WCNC she became a victim after she posted she needed childcare on Nextdoor app. The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, says Seltzer came to their home for an interview. The woman said she later caught Seltzer breaking into her home and called the police.
According to the police report, Seltzer is being accused of stealing jewelry and prescription medicines from the home.
I'm so lucky to have had the same nanny since 2012. She's basically raised both of my kids. They spend the night when my wife is out of town and I'm on the air.
My wife and I were super careful picking other sitters for our family. You should be too. Don't be afraid to ask for references from other families they've sat for. Feedback is everything.
Seltzer won't be working for any families anytime soon. She was booked into the Mecklenburg County Jail Thursday night. She posted bond and was released early Friday morning.
Any person who wants to report incidents involving Sarah Seltzer is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
