Kamala Harris, 57, is the first female vice president and the highest-ranking female official in U.S. history, as well as the first Black American and first South Asian American vice president.

As I was walking to lunch in South End, I noticed that the roads were all backed up. I then got a text from my boyfriend, who works in Pineville, saying the same thing; the traffic is awful.
I looked up why this might be the case, and remembered, of course; our Vice President Kamala Harris is in Charlotte today.
According to Charlotte Observer, Kamala Harris will be meeting with NC legislators today about reproductive rights, as well as affordable, and high-speed internet.
While CMPD did not release which streets will be closed down or affected by her visit, we do have some information.
She will be in Charlotte starting around 11:30 (hence the lunch time madness). We also know that she is set to depart from Charlotte around 4:30. As you can imagine, this will case quite the backup in traffic as roads will be unexpectedly closed or detoured.

My plan is to try and leave work a little early to avoid some of this traffic. If you can't leave early, just be aware that your commute home today will probably be a little longer than usual.
Good luck, and be safe!
