Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni attend NBC's "Law & Order" Press Junket at Studio 525 on February 16, 2022 in New York City.

One of the most popular shows in the business has experienced a dark moment today; as a crew member on the set of Law and Order was apparently shot, and killed.

According to New York Post, a crew member who was working for Law & Order: Organized Crime passed away today.

Contrary to what you may think, this was not because of a malfunction on set, but rather a violent act that happened near set. The victim, was sitting in a vehicle on N Henry Street in Greenpoint early this morning, when another man opened the door, and shot him, according to the New York Post.

The victim’s name has not been released yet, but we do know he is a is a 31-year old, father of three. The victim worked for NBC, parking vehicles at the show’s sets in the wee hours to save spaces for the film crews’ trucks later. The shooting happened around 5:15 am, and filming for the show was set to begin around 6am.

This is so sad!

NBC, and Universal Television had this to say about the incident:

“We were terribly saddened and shocked to hear that one of our crew members was the victim of a crime early this morning and has died as a result. We are working with local law enforcement as they continue to investigate. Our hearts go out to his family and friends, and we ask that you respect their privacy during this time.”

I hope they find the person responsible, and my thoughts go out to all those who knew and loved the victim. Such a sad way to start a morning.
