Woah. This is a super strange story out of South Africa.

South African authorities are investigating the deaths of at least 22 young people at a place called Enyobeni Tavern. The tavern is located in the coastal town of East London.

The BBC reports no official cause of the death has been released. The bodies were taken for post-mortem examinations, including toxicology tests, to determine the causes of death.

Oscar Mabuyane, premier of East Cape Province where the tragedy happened, condemned the “unlimited consumption of liquor.” A provincial safety official said that a stampede had been ruled out as the cause of death as there were “no visible wounds.”
