Halsey attends the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards at MGM Grand Garden Arena on April 03, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Halsey’s Maryland concert was canceled due to extreme flooding at the venue last night (June 8), stirring concertgoers into a frenzy when they thought rats were on the loose.

The show was delayed initially before a downpour, but attendees were sent screaming after water surged down the bleachers and flooded the floor. “There’s no way this Halsey Maryland show is real like WHAT,” tweeted one person, who posted a clip in the front row of the venue as water poured and a squirrel was kicked off the stage after being mistaken for a rat.

Halsey went live on Instagram to explain the situation and address the weather, stating she even travels with the help of weather experts who advised there was only going to be some rain that wasn’t supposed to be a big deal, but some “unexpected and unpredictable” weather that “immediately become dangerous.”

Per the NY Post, local authorities advised a shelter in place and not to evacuate due to the possibility of stampedes and the uncertainty of how dangerous the weather could become.

Halsey also tweeted, “Maryland I don’t even know what to say. If you missed my live, I’ll post something soon explaining what happened. But right now I’m heartbroken and panicked and I just want to know when/that you all get home safely. I love you guys more than anything.”

She added, “It wouldn’t have been safe for the audience for me to have just walked out on stage. If anyone ran towards the stage or rushed it or anything a lot of people could have gotten hurt given the circumstances, please understand.”

In a final tweet, Halsey said, “I really want to add that I am beyond disappointed with the way the venue handled everything tonight and my rescheduled date will be happening somewhere else. I hear you guys loud and clear I promise.”
