The Charlotte city council approved a 215 million dollar upgrade to the Spectrum Center. The budget includes 40 million dollars for a new Hornets training and practice facility.

The new performance facility will sit where the current CATS bus station is. Early plans call for a mix-use building. The practice facility will include retail and restaurant space.

The arena itself would see upgrades as well. Updates and renovations, ranging from heating and cooling systems to elevators and escalators as well as new seats. Renovations would start July 1st and would be completed over a four-year period during NBA off-seasons.

The plan also calls for adding more entrances to avoid backups before games and other events and creating grab-and-go concession areas that minimize wait times.

The arena would also see updated scoreboards and wrap-around screens. Most arenas have these modern looks.
