The wall to wall Elvis’ in Las Vegas may be coming to an end.
The company that licenses Elvis Presley-themed merchandise has a message for wedding chapels in Las Vegas: Stop with the Elvis-themed weddings. Last month, Authentic Brands Group sent a cease-and-desist letter to several wedding chapels in Las Vegas ordering them to stop using Elvis’ name, likeness, voice image, and other elements of his persona.
The move could decimate the booming wedding biz in Sin City and take away the whole reason many people wed there.
ABG owns the rights to the protected trademarks Elvis, Elvis Presley, and the King of Rock and Roll. The licensing company also manages the estates of Marilyn Monroe and Muhammad Ali.
