An unidentified climate activist attempted to vandalize the Mona Lisa at the Lourve in Paris, France by throwing cake at it.
He disguised himself as a woman by wearing a wig and rented a mobility scooter to get around the museum. This got the unidentified man closer than most, and as he neared Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa painting he jumped out and attempted to smash the glass. When that did not work, he smeared cake all over the glass and tossed roses on the ground.
Security was able to get to and tackle the man. “The museum salutes the professionalism of its agents who reacted immediately during this incident. It also recalls that monitoring national collections is at the heart of their missions,” a spokesperson for the museum said.

Luckily, the Mona Lisa painting is fine – thanks to plexiglass!
