Just when I thought I knew what I was doing in the kitchen, things like this come out, and I feel clueless again. Avocados have become an all time favorite food these days. Whether you prefer yours in salads, on toast, or on a sandwich, they are very universal.

One thing about avocados that can be a bit intimidating however if how to cut them. I remember being so confused the first time I ever tried to eat an avocado. The massive pit in the middle of the avocado makes cutting them a bit tricky. The hardest part when it comes to cutting an avocado is getting the pit out.

While many people, including myself, learned to cut the avocado in half and use the knife to get the pit out, there is an even easier way to do it.

This new way (or at least it's new to me) of cutting an avocado goes like this:

  • Cut the avocado into quarters.
  • Twist the avocado
  • Remove the seed
  • Peel the avocado like a banana peel.

Not only do to quarter sized pieces make it easier to remove the seed, but by peeking the sides, you can get every last bit of goodness.

I just can't believe that this is the first time I'm seeing this. I will definitely be giving this new method a try next time I cut an avocado.
