If you’re like me, Pixar played a BIG role in your childhood. Every single film they’ve made is poignant, thoughtful, witty, and very entertaining no matter how old you are. And of course, they often choose their story by giving inanimate objects feelings. And, even in “Inside Out,” they gave feelings feelings…cinematic genius perhaps??
Today, Pixar announced a NEW film set to come out on June 16, 2023. Variety says it’s called “Elementals”, and yes, it’s about giving the elements feelings.
Their statement reads, “The film journeys alongside an unlikely pair, Ember and Wade, in a city where fire-, water-, land- and air-residents live together. The fiery young woman and the go-with-the-flow guy are about to discover something elemental: how much they actually have in common.”
Peter Sohn is set to direct the new film, with Denise Ream as producer. Sohn previously directed “Good Dinosaur” and “Partly Cloudy”. Ream previously produced “The Good Dinosaur and “Cars 2”.
Sohn actually said the idea for the story came from his childhood growing up in New York. After his parents emigrated from Korea, he said, “We were among many families who ventured to a new land with hopes and dreams — all of us mixing into one big salad bowl of cultures, languages and beautiful little neighborhoods.”
As for Pixar’s work in 2022, Lightyear is the story of the human astronaut that inspired the Buzz Lightyear action figure from Toy Story. Chris Evans voices the astronaut. This film will premiere on June 17th.
