Why is North Carolina schools ranking #35 in the nation, but ranking #42 for pay and compensation? My mom taught in elementary schools, and during dinner I would hear stories about how parents didn’t believe how bad their kid behaved. The conversations were about those lessons plans versus salaries. Speeding up to 2020 to now, teachers in America are somewhat burnt out. According to Scholaroo’s there’s a recent surge of teacher shortages in our public school system. ; 55% say they’re ready to leave the profession earlier than expected.

After they conducted an in-depth analysis, the scholarship website called Scholaroo’s press release. website released its 2022’s Best and Worst States for Teachers. This study is the first to dissect which states favor or discourage educators in a post-pandemic world. Based on the analysis of 42 metrics organized into 5 key indicators — Career Accessibility, Salary & Compensation, Work Benefits, Work Environment, and Student Performance — the 2022 Rankings showed that North Carolina ranks #35 in the nation.
