Kim Kardashian attends The 2022 Met Gala Celebrating "In America: An Anthology of Fashion" at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 02, 2022 in New York City.

The 2022 Met Gala was full of hundreds of celebrities wearing impressive, over-the-top looks, including Kim Kardashian. Her gown was borrowed from the one and only Marilyn Monore, it was the one the actress wore when she sang “Happy Birthday” to President John F Kennedy in 1962. But when Kimmy first tried on the iconic, shimmery, hip-clinging dress, she was devastated to find it didn’t fit and because it’s a vintage piece of Hollywood history, she wasn’t allowed to have it altered.

According to Women’s Health Kim was not giving up on the chance to be the only other person to wear the dress. So Kim Kardashian started a diet and exercise plan to drop enough pounds so it would fit. And the process sounds exhausting. “I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein,” Kim explains. “I didn’t starve myself, but I was so strict.”

As a result of her efforts, she lost 16 pounds in just three weeks and was able to wear her dream dress. But experts warn that shedding that much weight that quickly isn’t healthy. Registered dietitian nutritionist Jonathan Valdez says Kim’s diet is “definitely not a safe way to lose weight.” And certified personal trainer Bree Mitchell adds that it’s also “unrealistic.”

Both of these experts agree that losing so much weight so fast can be hard on the body.

Valdez explains, “Rapid weight loss risks include electrolyte imbalances, gallstones, gout, fatigue, constipation, diarrhea and nausea.”

A healthier weight loss goal would be more like losing one or two pounds a week, compared to Kim’s five or more, according to Mitchell.
