In fact, it’s not uncommon to see “plant mom,” “plant dad” or “plant parent” written in someone’s online dating profile. The trend is pretty specific to the younger crowd with 62% of Hinge users who mention "plant" in their profile being between the ages of 20 and 29.
So what is this attraction to plant parents all about? According to “Elite Daily” here’s why owning houseplants “is the newest relationship green flag” and what it says about you as a partner.
Sex therapist Claudia Johnson believes plant ownership could indicate a certain level of “maturity or put-togetherness.” Owning a plant also suggests “you’re open and vulnerable, you have integrity, you have respect for living creatures, and you’re nurturing.” “Caring for plants and spending time in green spaces can improve your mood, reduce stress, and promote overall well-being in people of all ages” making you all that much more emotionally available for your partner,” Johnson says. Owning plants can also be “romantic” if it’s something you and your partner can bond over. Plant owners are curious by nature. It takes patience to grow a plant and requires a willingness to learn in order to take care of them — which can be very attractive to a partner.
Shoutout to all the plant moms and plant dads out there!
