According to research from the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance, Charlotte is leading the country in office space development. The report claims that there were nearly 5 million square feet of office space coming into the market in 2021. That's the most in the nation. Unsurprisingly, it's the tech industry that is driving demand.
When you drive around Charlotte, it's not hard to miss the many cranes that are scattered along the skyline. There are tons of new buildings being built, bringing thousands of jobs to Charlotte. As for employers, tenants are most excited about areas like Uptown, South End, Ballantyne, and University.
Our offices are in South End, and despite there being traffic on South Boulevard, it is an awesome area to work in. Mostly, I love working in this area because there are so many restaurants and businesses within walking distance. Seeing Charlotte grow so fast is bittersweet. It's hard to see some of the more historic areas, and staple businesses in Charlotte are taken over, but there is definitely something very exciting about living in a city while it is growing so fast.
If only we were better equipped for all the traffic, I'd have no complaints!
