In today’s society, professional female athletes face a lot of online abuse. And BonusFinder recently investigated just how much abuse these athletes take. To do this they analyzed the number of negative tweets women in the sports industry receive. They looked at the total number of tweets received with those classed as negative.
List: Top 10 Most Trolled Professional Female Athletes On Twitter
By sheer numbers, the athletes that received the most negative tweets are Simone Biles, Sha'Carri Richardson, and Becky Lynch. However, they also received more tweets overall. Four-time Olympic gold medalist Biles received a total of 14077 tweets with 65.11% of them being negative. In contrast, Ronda Rousey received 5035 tweets with 4184 or 83.1% of those being negative. This may have resulted from the recent controversy surrounding Rousey, who was also booed by fans during her last WWE match.
