If you were looking forward to Charlotte’s St. Patrick’s Day parade returning this year, I have some bad news for you. Although COVID cases are dropping in North Carolina, and Mecklenburg County, the parade will not be able to happen this year.
The St. Patrick’s Day parade has gone on for almost 25 years in Charlotte, so it’s easy to understand why it is so loved. According to WCNC, Frank and Linda Hart are the ones who started the parade back in 1997.
After skipping both 2020, and 2021 due to COVID-19 concerns, many were hoping this year we would see a return to the parade. Unfortunately, the Harts are focusing their energy on the health of Frank Hart, who is suffering from Parkinson’s Disease.
No one else, that they know of, is organizing the event, meaning this year it will not happen. It’s definitely a huge bummer that this event won’t be happening, but I think the family is making the best decision to focus on their help. Hopefully next year, there will be someone who will be able to help and take over so this event will continue.
