“Bad Vegan: Fame. Fraud. Fugitives.” Is Coming To Netflix
“Bad Vegan: Fame. Fraud. Fugitives.” will be Netflix’s journey in looking into the downfall of Sarma Melngailis.
The four-part series will examine the woman known as the Queen of Vegan Cuisine, who went from a celebrated restaurateur to a fugitive when she went on the run with husband Anthony Strangis after stealing almost $2 million from investors and employees. They were arrested in May 2016 after having a non-vegan Dominos pizza delivered to the Tennessee motel room where they were hiding out. Both later served jail time after pleading guilty to grand larceny, tax fraud, and conspiring to defraud.

Speaking of, did you know that Charlotte is home to a new restaurant and it’s one that is breaking down barriers and making history? ‘Romeo’s Vegan Burgers,’ just opened a drive-thru in Charlotte. It’s a black-owned company, and it is making waves! The now restaurant started as a food truck by Monty Faulkner. The drive-thru opened up at the end of 2021 at 5518 South Blvd. The menu is 100% vegan and features burgers, fries, milkshakes, salads, and more. According to Instagram, the black-owned drive-thru is currently hiring for multiple positions including cooks, cashiers, and team members. You can read more here!
