They get stuck in the same routine, have the same date nights and even the sex can start to get stale after a while. So how do you spice things up if you find this happening in your relationship? Before you sign up for a couple’s yoga retreat or rescue another dog, consider pitching a tent.
We’re talking about a literal tent here, like out in the woods with campfires and s’mores because according to a survey, couples who camp together have hot sex lives! The poll from tent company OLPRO asked 500 couples between the ages of 25 and 50 who had recently gone on a camping trip about how it affected their love lives. The results reveal:
- 90% say they had more sex out in the wilderness than they would if they stayed home.
- Nearly half (45%) of the couples feel the boost to their sex life comes from having fewer distractions, so they can focus on each other.
- About a third (30%) say camping makes them more carefree, which helps get them in the mood.
- And 9% say camping heats things up for them because it brings them together closer physically.
Psychologist Barbara Bishop explains how camping can be good for a couple’s sex life. “It gives us the opportunity to reconnect with our partners and recharge our relationships in a very meaningful way,” she says. “We rediscover our primal selves when we’re close to nature.”
