Listen up, those of you with a sweet tooth; Charlotte is getting a new donut shop!

Charlotte is no stranger to new businesses and new restaurants, but this one has definitely caught my eye! Miami-based donut shop, The Salty Donut, is coming to the Queen City. Part of the reason I'm so excited is that The Salty Donut has quite the reputation after being named one of Thrillist’s “best donut shops in America. A 2,305 square feet of space in the South End, near RailYard will be where the new donut shop will go, and it should be open by the summertime.

The donut shop has been around since 2015  started as a pop-up shop, operating out of a 1950's camper (how cute!). They quickly gained popularity,  and soon opened their first brick-and-mortar location in Miami. Since then, they've expanded into Texas, and Florida, and soon, Charlotte, NC.

Per the Salty Donut's website, they describe themselves as, "a family-owned, artisan donut shop that focuses on chef-made, small-batch, craft donuts that rotate based on seasonality." As for their donuts, they have both cake and yeast recipes, and here's what you can expect, "All of our yeast-raised donuts are based on our 24hr Brioche recipe which is buttery, insanely flavorful and fluffy. Our cake donuts are a little crunchy on the outside, soft & moist on the inside."

Their donut menu is already super intriguing to be, with donut flavors like maple bacon, prickly pear margarita, brown butter and salt, and Texas chocolate sheet cake. They also have rotating seasonal flavors of donuts too, which means you'll always have a good variety.

The shop will also offer a coffee menu, which will be perfect for the South End area has more and more businesses and residents are flocking to the neighborhood. After all, we all need coffee to get us through our day. I know we have a lot of donut shops in Charlotte already, but I'm excited to be getting this one, and when you look at their Instagram, you will see why.
