People Spend A Third Of Their Day Staring At Their Phones
We already told you why you might want to consider breaking up with social media. Now, get ready for a reality check! Mashable is reporting that phone usage has reportedly increased 30% since 2019 which means people are glued to their screens more than ever before.
According to the app analytics company App Annie’s State of Mobile 2022 report, in 2021 people spent almost five hours scrolling and tapping through apps – that equals out to roughly a third of our 24-hour day that we aren’t sleeping.
- The U.S. came in 10th with 4.2 hours per day (an hour more than Americans spend watching TV)
- Brazil and Indonesia were the countries with the highest usage (both averaging 5.4 hours per day)
There hasn’t been much change from 2020 – 2021 in terms of which apps people spend most of their time on.
- Seven out of 10 minutes were spent on social, photo, and video apps
- TikTok was the most downloaded app of 2021 globally
Some apps, like TikTok, actually have screen time limit features in place that you can utilize. You can also be more mindful about that screen time report your iPhone gives you each week. Check out more tips to help you disconnect HERE!
