“Sports Illustrated” swimsuit model Brooks Nader reveals she was stalked for five hours after a stranger planted an Apple AirTag on her. The 26-year-old had been out at a bar in New York City with friends and later discovered someone had slipped one of the tracking devices into her coat pocket in what she calls the “scariest moment” of her life.

The Daily Mail reported that Brooks didn’t have a clue the tracker was on her until hours later when she got a notification on her phone that an unknown item had been “moving with her for a while” and that “the owner could see its location.” She shared a screenshot of the notification on her Instagram Stories and says that at first, she was just confused, then later alarmed when she realized it was an Apple AirTag – a device to help keep track of things that often get misplaced, like keys or your wallet. Making it even scarier? She got the notification while she was walking home alone at 11:30 pm.

After making the discovery, Brooks is warning others about the dangers of them, pointing out that anyone could slip one in your pocket or purse to follow your movements. “Ladies, check your bag, coat, pockets, and surroundings,” she cautions. “Disturbed isn’t even the word.” The model hopes that sharing her story raises awareness and encourages women to be extra careful when out and about. And if you do happen to find an AirTag, she says to immediately call the police and Apple to track the serial number back to the perpetrator.”
