Proof That Skinny Jeans Are Actually Not Over

Skinny jeans were a closet staple for many millennials. When Gen Z dubbed them as “out of style,” it was like a declaration of war between the two generations. But…

Skinny jeans were a closet staple for many millennials. When Gen Z dubbed them as “out of style,” it was like a declaration of war between the two generations. But did the huge outcry from millennials mean that skinny jeans still had a chance? I personally couldn't get rid of mine and I was relieved to see that refinery29 says not to toss them just yet!

We won’t argue that looser styles like baggy and flare jeans are in. Data from the global fashion platform Lyst, shows that searches for wide-leg and baggy jeans skyrocketed by 110% since January 2021. On the other hand, it wouldn’t be fair to totally rule skinny jeans out for 2022. Data also shows that searches for skinny jeans have increased 77% month-on-month since September.

In case you need more proof that skinnys aren’t dead yet…

They’ve popped up on the fashion runaway recently. Skinny jeans were a part of Tom Ford’s recent collections in the form of leather-looking low-rises. Givenchy also included skinny jeans in the brand’s pre-fall 2022 collection which featured washed and ruched denim.

Other luxury brands like Balmain and Balenciaga are also still in the business of selling both low-rise and high-waisted skinny jeans along with retail brands like Levi’s, Good American, and Everlane.

P.S. Don’t forget we also mentioned that the 2010’s fashion era is slowly but surely already making a comeback in which skinny jeans reigned supreme.
