A woman in the U.K. succeeded in losing the weight she wanted thanks to a different kind of elimination diet. Instead of eliminating foods, Brenda Finn eliminated social media. According to Fox News, the 33-year-old says she was always “a bit chubby,” but when her weight reached 217 pounds in August 2020, she knew she wanted to do something about it.
Finn started working out, but knew she needed to change her diet, too. She also noticed how distracting Facebook and Instagram were to her progress. “Scrolling down my feed I’d see endless cakes, ice cream, sugary drinks and pizzas,” she recalls with Fox News. “It was constant subliminal messaging telling me to go and have a snack.” So she decided to go on a social media diet and deleted all of her accounts so she could focus on her weight loss goals. And it worked!
As soon as she ditched social media, Finn says she “saw the weight dropping off.” Of course, she was also eating better and working out, but the combo was working for her. Last month, she reached her goal weight of 140 - nearly an 80-pound loss. She even reactivated her Instagram account to celebrate her success, but says she “couldn’t engage with it.” Now she says she can’t believe how good she feels.
