Greg Jones is the owner of restaurant Xplore Lakeside in Hot Springs Village in Arkansas. With the labor shortage, Greg makes sure his employees are taken care of, even paying his student employees to do their homework.

Greg says their restaurant lost a lot of employees during this labor shortage. Markets Insider says they've tried almost everything to find more employees, including newspaper ads and ads online as well as employee referrals.

He started to hire more student employees, and give them more and more hours. But then, lots of the students said it was too much to juggle work and school. So Greg came up with a solution. He told them he'd allow them an hour to sit in the restaurant and do their homework before their shift starts. The restaurant pays them for that hour and also provides them with meals.

Greg says this idea has helped retain two student employees so far.
