A woman went viral on Twitter after posting about a charge on her bill for a recent mole surgery. They charged her $11 for “Brief Emotion” which she says is for her crying during surgery.
NDTV says the woman who goes by Midge (@mxmclain) on Twitter posted a picture of her bill with the caption “Mole removal: $223 Crying: extra”.
Her tweet currently sits at over 194,900 likes and over 15,600 retweets. Many people commented, criticizing the American healthcare system, calling this charge “absurd”.
Any time my non-American friends complain about how “horrible” their medical system is in their country (e.g. Japan, France, UK, Sweden), I’m like, Mademoiselle, come to America first. We will charge you for having a “brief emotion.” https://t.co/kMmfRK3BN1— 🌸JUPY!🌸 plooshie queen 👑 (@jupy314) September 30, 2021
I see it says “brief.” Do they charge by the minute? And they don’t specify what kind of emotion. Do they charge if you’re really excited to have your mole removed?🤔— Joan Shash (@JoanShash) September 29, 2021
One person replied, “Does your health care cover feelings?”
How would you feel if you got a charge like this? Is this fair?
