This is totally something my son Cash would do!

Some kids forget what their parents say as soon as they’re out of their sight, but not Mason Peoples. According to People, the first-grader really listened to his mother’s instructions about wearing his face mask at school and as a result, he’s wearing his mask in his new school pictures. The Nevada boy is being praised for not taking it off in the photo, since his mom told him to keep it on.

Mason’s mom, Nicole, shares the masked picture of her son on her Facebook page and reveals that he didn’t back down when he was asked to take it off. It all started when the photographer told him to remove the mask for the photo, and the six-year-old responded, “My mom said to keep it on all the time unless I’m eating and far away from everyone.” So the photographer tried to reassure Mason, telling him, “I’m sure it’s okay to take it off for your pictures,” but he didn’t give in and responded, “No, my mom seriously told me to make sure to keep it on.”

At that point, the photographer tried once more, asking if the kid could just take it off for two seconds, and Mason replied, “No thank you, I always listen to my mom!” So his school picture was snapped just like that, with his mask covering his smile. “I’m so proud of him for sticking to his word,” his mom explains to People , “but I should have been more clear about my rules on this day.”

Nicole’s post has received thousands of comments since posting Mason’s school photo, many of them cheering the boy for keeping his word. “It has to be hard to stand up to an adult, but he had the confidence to stand up for what he thought was right,” one Facebook user writes. “Good job mama!”
