Samuel Adams’s newest limited-edition beer called Utopias is so strong, it’s illegal to sell it in 15 states, including North Carolina and South Carolina.

The reason why it’s illegal is that the new Utopias beer has a 28% ABV content. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a beer with a 28% ABV!! This is more than five times the normal ABV content for most regular beers. Just one sip of Utopias would make me tipsy!

You might be pretty excited to try it at this point, especially if you’re a beer connoisseur of types. But, I haven’t mentioned how much one of these beers costs yet…

Samuel Adams only created 13,000 bottles of this beer, each one in a massive 25.4-ounce bottle. One bottle costs over $240. The company says their new Utopias beer is meant to be “sipped and savored” according to Food&Wine.

Since 2002, the company has been releasing a new edition of the Utopias line every two years. This year, I’d say they’ve really outdone themselves. Their founder Jim Koch said in a statement on the new beer, “Since the introduction of Utopias in 2002, brewers have explored uncharted territory with each brew, experimenting with different kinds of aging barrels, new flavors, and different blending techniques. The result is always special, spirited, and worth waiting for.

If you’re excited to get your hands on this one-of-a-kind beer, they go on sale on October 11th. Find more information here.
