As much as you love your fitness wardrobe, it turns out, there are a lot of benefits to exercising in your birthday suit. Working out naked can be great for your physical and emotional health and here’s why you might want to give it a try.
Potential perks of getting physical in the buff include:
- Self-love - It could help you feel more comfortable with your body and encourage feelings of self-love. Research shows that folks who spent time in the nude felt better about their bodies than those who kept their clothes on and those who practice nudism reported higher self-esteem, too.
- Body acceptance - Being around other naked people may help you accept your body on a deeper level and remind you that no body is really “perfect.” A small study finds that participants who spent time around other naked people had better body appreciation.
- Correct form - You can’t really see what’s going on when you work out in loose clothes and while tight clothing shows more, exercising naked lets you see the way your muscles are moving in a more in-depth way.
- Feel free - Clothes can be restrictive and uncomfortable, especially when you’re sweaty. But working out naked is the opposite, plus, no more wedgies!
But where can you get your fitness on in the nude? You can find nude gyms and classes in your area with a quick Google search, just make sure they’re legit before you go. You can also do a live online fitness class in your birthday suit, just triple check that your camera is OFF first! And you can always get naked when you do your favorite workout app or do a class on YouTube.
