Man’s Fiancée Shocks Him With Desire To Be Stay-At-Home Wife

When you’re about to marry someone you’d think you’d know all there is to know about the person. But, one man’s fiancée just shocked him with a pretty outrageous request and it may leave their upcoming union in doubt.

A man shares on Reddit’s “Am I The A-hole” forum that after getting engaged his fiancée asked him a pretty surprising question ahead. Seems she asked him if he’d be okay if once they were married she quit her job and became a “stay-at-home wife.”

The man explains they had been dating three years before he proposed, and she never mentioned her desire not to work before. When she asked him how she felt about her not working he laughed, thinking she was joking, but she was really serious. When he asked her why she didn’t want to work she suggested that with his salary they could "scale back" their lifestyle. She told him, "I think working nine to five just isn’t for me.”

He said he may be comfortable with her becoming a stay-at-home mom, but since they are child -free he wasn’t cool with it otherwise. She then accused him of being “manipulative,” telling him he should "support her dreams.” Although he notes, “she never stated what she wants to do with her staying at home, even though I did ask.” He asked her if it was her dream “to be lazy,” and she got upset and went to stay with her mom.

“I want a partner in life, not a dependent doing nothing productive with their days,” he writes, and then asks whether he was in the wrong, and most people agree he isn’t.
