A woman in Utah is singing the praises of the staff of a Starbucks for stepping in to help when a man was harassing her. Avery Spencer was trying to do some work at one of the chain’s locations in Orem when a stranger came and sat down next to her. The 23-year-old tried to cut their conversation short, letting him know she was married and on a deadline with work, so she had no time to talk.

  • When he persisted in talking to her despite her efforts to end the chit chat, Avery was getting concerned for her safety and started filming their interaction.
  • Lucky for her, a barista named Tiffany had her back. She noticed Avery looking uncomfortable and came over to her table to check on her and refill her drink.
  • In a now-viral TikTok video, Avery explains that Tiffany leaned over and whispered to her, “We’ve been having an issue with this man. If he makes you uncomfortable, let us know.”

The barista and her coworkers were watching the interaction and saw Avery growing more bothered by the guy, and knowing the employees had her back made her feel a lot better about the sketchy situation. Tiffany told her they had previously had problems with the man and were going to remove him so Avery could stay and in the clip, she expresses her thanks. “They were just so observant,” she says of the Starbucks staff. “They were just immediately there and helpful and I’m just grateful for that.”
