Lil Nas X is calling out a double standard after skateboarding legend Tony Hawk pulled a stunt this week that involved using his own blood.
In March, the rapper launched a pair of “controversial Satan Shoes” featuring a bronze pentagram, an inverted cross and a drop of actual human blood.
Meanwhile, earlier this week, Hawk teamed up with the beverage Liquid Death to release a limited edition $500 skateboard with his blood infused into the paint, now sold out.
Lil Nas X aired his grievances when he found out about The Birdman’s blood infused marketing tactic, saying, “now that tony hawk has released skateboards with his blood painted on them, and there was no public outrage, are y’all ready to admit y’all were never actually upset over the blood in the shoes? and maybe u were mad for some other reason?”

Twitter users quickly called out the rapper and singer for his use of satanic imagery and religion being the reason for the backlash he received. Others rallied behind Lil Nas X, 22, saying that he isn’t out to be a role model for anyone’s kids.
why do you guys act like everyone has to be a role model for the kids and be a big christian dad figure just because they get popular in music? he's supposed to go against his beliefs and praise jesus just to make some middle america dads feel better about their homophobia? cmon— bill (@BillRatchet) August 25, 2021
One user joked with a photo response that read: “the BLOOD of CHRIST is my vaccine!!”
The blood is what people were upset over? Cuz pretty sure it was cuz they were satan shoes— Bri ♿🏃❌🚫 (@Brithecrippled2) August 25, 2021
