A sign is posted outside of a Domino's Pizza restaurant on May 1, 2014 in San Francisco, California.

After Oliver Paterson who goes by @elburritomonster went viral on TikTok for his BBQ watermelon pizza, Domino’s Australia decided to try it out.

This is Paterson’s original video:

I can’t actually recommend this enough

According to Newsweek, Domino’s AU saw the video and tried it themselves. But they have received some hate for it after they posted their own video on TikTok.

Y’all keep asking us for a low carb option 😏🍕Nah fr when we saw @elburritomonster make a watermelon pizza, we HAD to give it a go.

Personally, I hate watermelon so a watermelon pizza would be absolutely disgusting to me. However, I know there are MANY people who LIVE for watermelon. So maybe they should be the ones to try this weird trend?

The company says, “y’all keep asking us for a low carb option” and I guess they got us there since this is a pretty healthy alternative option to regular pizza.

According to Newsweek, Domino’s AU said, “At Domino’s, pizza is our passion and we are constantly experimenting with different toppings and bases in our development kitchen to see exactly what is pizzable! In this case, our social media team was inspired by a video on TikTok by @elburritomonster who used watermelon as a pizza base—an unusual idea that we just had to try for ourselves.”

They went on to say, “unfortunately, not all experiments lead to ‘masterpizzas.’ The watermelon pizza—while unique—tasted exactly how you would imagine… Like a slice of sweet, juicy watermelon with a thin layer of pepperoni pizza on top. Both taste great separately… but let’s just say we won’t be combining the two on our menu anytime soon. If you ask us, the only fruit that belongs on pizza is pineapple. Oh no we didn’t!”

Would you try Watermelon Pizza?
