Did you feel it? A small earthquake coming in at a 2.7 magnitude hit western North Carolina this morning. According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred just north of Morganton. Some residents reportedly felt a slight shake around 9:15 this morning, though it’s rare to feel an earthquake less than a 3 magnitude. It is more likely to be felt if you are sitting down.
