It looks like there will be a lot of rain in the next week, and maybe even some storms this weekend; so if you’re itching to get out of the house, do it before Charlotte is under water.

Here is a list of some events going on around Charlotte this weekend that you can check out. Just remember to stay safe, and follow all CDC guidelines and recommendations to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.

 

FRIDAY

Birdsong Brewing Co. Vendor Spotlight

  • 1016 North Davidson St.
  • Maker’s Market Clt and Birdsong Brewing have teamed up to feature a local artist every month. Visitors can enjoy a beer and shop directly from the artist.

Charlotte Art League Landscape NC Art Exhibit Opening

  • 4100A Raleigh St.
  • The latest exhibit from the Charlotte Art League, “Landscape NC,” features local artists’ depictions and reflections of North Carolina from its coastline to its jagged cityscapes.

NoDa Brewing’s Miles & Music Summer Series

  • 2921 North Tryon St.
  • Join the team from Around the Crown for a run around the block followed by drinks in the taproom and live music from local artists. Every second Friday through August.

Moon Hooch presents A Hooch Odyssey

  • The Music Yard 2433 South Blvd.
  • Catch Moon Hooch perform live at The Music Yard with traffic cones among other things.

Mark Rapp Quartet: Jazz Meets Disney

  • Middle C Jazz Club
  • Award-winning trumpeter Mark Rapp and his quartet will bring to life their swinging and fun arrangements of beloved Disney classics. Rapp recorded three songs for Disney Jazz including his unique arrangements of “Circle of Life”, “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo” and “Baby Mine.”

Charlotte Pride Drag Show

  • The Southend location of Protagonist hosts its first-ever drag show with host Onya Nerves.

Paranormal Examination of Charlotte Ghost Stories

  • Join SpookyClt, Old North State Podcast and Hex Files Podcast on this Friday the 13th evening for chilling ghost stories about Charlotte and tarot card readings.

Glow + Drop Sound Yoga

  • Alchemy-C3 Lab at 2525 Distribution St
  • This outdoor glow-in-the-dark yoga flow incorporates glow sticks, glow rings and glow body paint under neon and black lights to create an exciting workout for all skill levels. Bring a mat and some water — glow materials will be provided.

SATURDAY

Standup Paddle Board Yoga

  • Lake Wylie at 3990 Charlotte Hwy.
  • Join Habitual Roots for a relaxing yoga session in the middle of Lake Wylie. You’ll use a paddleboard as a mat and flow through a series of approachable yoga poses.

Charlotte Collective South End Grand Opening 

  • 110 West Blvd., Ste. B
  • Shop from more than 20 local vendors under one roof at Charlotte Collective’s new South End location. There will be mimosas to celebrate, plus the first 50 customers get a free gift with their purchase.

  • Head to Ballantyne’s Backyard for outdoor yoga, live music, local vendors and food trucks.

Storytelling and mask making

  • The Harvey B. Gantt Center 551 South Tryon St.
  • Learn about the importance and symbolism of masks in traditional African cultures through interactive mask-making. Teaching artist Carlo “Mama Lo” Dawson, will lead the session.

Charlotte’s Cuban Festival

  • Celebrate the food, music and vibrancy of Cuban culture at A Piece of Havana’s Cuban Festival.

The Last Dance: The 8.5ish Anniversary Music Festival

  • The Unknown Brewing
  • As a part of their farewell festivities, Unknown Brewing is hosting its last music festival before the brewery and taproom close later this month. There will be food, music performances, water slides, super soakers and fireworks to round out the night.

Charlotte Pride Band Concert

  • Bring a chair and a picnic for the Charlotte Pride Band’s performance in Freedom Park.

Great Gatsby Gala by The National MS Society

  • This Roaring 20s-themed outdoor gala will have a live and silent auction, delicious food, drinks, and cocktails, music and more. Proceeds from the event will benefit the National MS Society.

SUNDAY

Counterculture Club Outdoor Yoga Series 

  • Camp North End
  • Join Counterculture Club Yoga in the Boileryard at Camp North End for a rejuvenating yoga flow, fit for all levels.

Lenny Boy Run Club

  • 3000 South Tryon St.
  •  Join Lenny Boy Brewing’s Run Clun for a morning run through South End along the rail trail. After the run, hang out and enjoy a free 6 oz. kombucha.
