TOKYO, JAPAN - JULY 23: Performers act out a routine in-front of the Olympic Rings during the Opening Ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games at Olympic Stadium on July 23, 2021 in Tokyo, Japan.

The Tokyo Olympics have begun and unfortunately, thanks to Covid, they’re being carried out without spectators – and a lot of other people. As part of that, one of the big casualties has been the concessions that were supposed to be feeding everyone.

For one, the facilities, which were built to feed tens of thousands, are basically shuttered. After all, the only people there are journalists, staff and, of course – the athletes. And what does that mean for food offerings? It means very few choices and questionable menu items like “sandwich,” pizza, rice bowls and hamburgers…and no coffee!

What’s that look like on the daily? A journalist shared an image of her “breakfast box” which consisted of a hot dog, soft chicken, boiled egg, “French flies”, pancake, “chili con carne”, garlic shrimp and “fruits cocktail.” Hungry?
