July is National Ice Cream Month! So you scream, I scream, we all scream!
I feel like almost everyone likes ice cream. I don’t think I know any person who doesn’t like it. So this may be a universal thing. But, what is not universal is everyone’s favorite flavor.
The International Dairy Foods Association conducted a survey asking people their favorite ice cream flavor. But, don’t be too sure you know America’s 5 Favorite Flavors right off the bat. Some of these shocked me, but #5 didn’t.
5. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
I feel like this one is pretty obvious because chocolate chip cookie dough is incredible and can only enhance another dessert item like ice cream or cake. This one, I think, makes sense being at #5.
4. Mint Chocolate Chip
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been SHAMED for my love of mint ice cream. That’s why this one surprised me a little, because sometimes, it felt like me and my family were the only people in the world who liked mint. Happy it’s at #4!
3. Cookies N’ Cream
I think this flavor goes hand in hand with Cookie Dough. If you like one, you’d probably like the other. But, IMO, Cookies N’ Cream can be hit or miss sometimes. If there aren’t really big chunks in it of cookie, then I don’t want it. Buuuut, if the cookies are big n chunky, I will eat the whole package.
My personal favorite is Chocolate, so it pains me to see it at #2, not #1. I’m one of those people who would choose chocolate over vanilla to go with my other dessert, like cake or pie. The other dessert could also be very chocolatey and I would still choose chocolate ice cream.
And America’s Number 1 flavor is…
Good ol’ vanilla. It does surprise me that it is at #1, but I guess it does make sense since the Vice President of regulatory and scientific affairs at the IDFA said, “Vanilla has long been the best-selling ice cream flavor not only because it is creamy and delicious, but also because of its ability to enhance so many other desserts and treats.”
What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Is it on this list?
